Boom celebrates record audiences
Boom Radio, has recorded its best-ever audience figures.
Latest official research, published by Rajar (July '25), indicates a record 711,000 weekly listeners — up 14% year-on-year — are listening for a record 11.1 million hours – up a staggering 49% year-on- year.
Of those listeners, 605,000 are aged over 55 — also a new record for the station and up 25% year on year.
Across a month long campaign, it's predicted Boom reaches 1.1m adults (15+).
The station continues to rank Number One for loyalty too amongst all national stations, with listeners spending, on average, 15.7 hours each week with the station.
“A great summer has just got even better”, said Phil Riley, co-founder of Boom Radio. “We’re so proud and thankful to our incredible army of listeners. Their amazing loyalty is down to the brilliant work of our presenters, who connect deeply with their audience. The freedom they have with the music they play stands in stark contrast to most formulaic music radio today – and that’s why our listeners are responding so strongly.
Boom Radio was founded in 2021 by a 'group of old friends with a dream' who spotted a gap in the market for a new music radio station aimed at poaching disenchanted Radio 2 listeners.
The record figures come as Boom Radio expands its network of stations. After a soft launch online, last month the easy-listening station Boom Light was launched on DAB+ to over 20 million people in key towns and cities around the UK. Boom Rock, the third offering from Boom Radio’s stable of stations, plays 'a world of rock music' from across the years.
