David's own Your Song
Every afternoon on the David Hamilton show, David plays Your Song - the one song that will forever be yours. The one song that reminds you of the early days of a relationship - and always will.
Sometimes it's your current relationship - but sometimes we've heard of earlier relationships and even relationships which never quite developed as you'd hoped. That's fine too. Feel free to change names if it helps!
David Hamilton certainly has his own Your Song story as he tells us:
"I met Dreena, the current Mrs Hamilton on a blind date. All I knew about her was that she was an aerobics teacher.
I first saw her outside the Paris Theatre in Lower Regent Street. She looked pretty tall as she got out the car, so I said to myself, “She won’t be interested in me.” But we grew together – despite some worrying times I share in my book.
Eventually, I remember one day when she left the house, I looked out of the French windows into the garden and it was pouring with rain. It summed up my feelings. I realised that I missed her and decided there and then that I would ask her to move in with me.
We got married on a tropical island off the coast of Anguilla in the Caribbean in 1983. It was a very small island with just a few palm trees and, very importantly, a bar.
We flew back via Antigua. In the bar at Antigua airport, I bumped into Eric Clapton and introduced him to my new bride,
Dreena said, "Whenever David plays Wonderful Tonight on the radio, he plays it for me."
"I wrote that for my ex-wife Pattie Boyd", said Eric. "I hope it brings you better luck than it brought me".
