Garry Richardson's Sound of Music

The Hills are Alive.
There are likely few boomers who have yet to see The Sound of Music - at least once.
The film - a fictional retelling of Maria von Trapp's experiences as governess to seven children, her eventual marriage to their father Captain Georg von Trapp, and their escape - starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
The Sound of Music celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and Garry Richardson, a familiar Radio 4 sports voice until his retirement last year, has been an unlikely fan since it came out in 1965.
In this Boom special, Garry realises a dream and visits Salzburg to see some of the film locations including the gazebo where they filmed You are Sixteen going on Seventeen and the house where they all lived. And he tracks down Angela Cartwright who played Brigitta, one of the 7 Von Trapp children.
Enjoy The Hills Are Alive with Garry Richardson. Christmas Day at 7.00pm
