Ron Coles
Radio is in Ron's blood. His career began at the BBC’s first local radio station in Leicester, before a spell in network radio at Radio 1 Newsbeat, The World Tonight and the Today programme. He returned to local radio to head programmes at Radio Sheffield and Radio Nottingham.
In 1980, Ron was appointed Managing Director for Nottingham's Radio Trent which grew into a Midlands network before establishing a new regional station; and then launching the Saga Radio network.
Ron is a former Chairman of the commercial radio industry’s trade association and of the Radio Academy. Sunderland University awarded him an Alumni Fellowship in 2010 for services to radio.
At Boom, he's amongst the music he loves - hosting his weekly Rock 'n' Roll programme on a Friday night at 6.00 on Boom Light.
