Across the UK - Including...

You've probably heard our little features giving a handful of facts about a particular town or city somewhere across the UK. They include a slice of fascinating history - or some humorous notes of interest. We call it our 'Places' series.

For example, did you know that Wrexham lager is reputed to have been drunk on the Titanic - or that Southampton boasts the oldest bowling green in the world - or that M & S began on a  market stall in Leeds?

Many listeners have been in touch with us insisting their home town be featured - and even volunteered a short script or recorded it for us on their phone!

We love that involvement!

If you fancy helping out and getting your place featured, here's how to do it:

  • Find - and double check - a few facts about your town or city.
  • Not a dull history lesson, but genuinely fascinating nuggets.  Where is it in the UK? What is it famous for?  Who, of note, was born there?  What makes it special?  What would surprise people about it?
  • Then write a script beginning with the words: 'Boom Radio, serving the whole United Kingdom, including (your town)" - and ending with the words: "Boom Radio, across the UK, including  (your town)".
  • The script overall should take just thirty seconds to read - and that's quite important!
  • Then send us the script at boom@boomradio.co.uk.
  • Or - even better - record the script using the recorder on your phone. We'd love to hear YOU on Boom!   Do get the quality as good as you can, with the mic on your phone close enough to your mouth - and use a room that's not too echoey.  Feel free to try it a few times to get it right - we can choose! Then send the file of all the recording to us at boom@boomradio.co.uk

Huge thanks for your help. We can't promise to use them all on Boom, but hope you have fun doing it!
